About TeeterTop
TeeterTop is a small independent project with one job: get kids playing, building, moving, and reconnecting with other kids.
Why this exists
You do not always need more toys. Often you need a reason to start playing. A box, a soft ball, and one clear rule will do it. So will another family saying yes to half an hour in the yard.
This site collects those reasons to start. Every game here can be played with things most homes already have, and none of them require buying anything from us.
What TeeterTop is
- A library of play ideas, written for the adults who organize play: parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, and youth leaders.
- The public home of a new play invention that is still in development. What we can say about it is on the TOP SECRET page.
Our editorial standards
- Instructions you can actually follow. Every game lists materials, setup, rules, a way to finish, and a way to reset.
- Nothing invented. We do not make up tests, testers, results, or quotes.
- Sources next to claims. When we say something about child development or physical activity, the source is linked beside the sentence, and we say what the source does not establish. The full list is on research and sources.
- No borrowed authority. The organizations we cite do not endorse TeeterTop, and we never suggest they do.
- A person reads it first. Drafts are prepared with software assistance. A person reviews each page before it is published, and the page shows the review date.
- Dates mean something. We change a page's date only when the page changes in substance.
- Corrections are quick and visible. If we get something wrong, we fix the page and say so.
Who we write for
Adults. Children are the players, and the pictures and games are about them, but the reader we have in mind is the grown-up who sets things up and stays close. See play safety for how we think about supervision.
